Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of the act of philosophizing and communication for the realization of the human person as a singular being and for the other, as has been transmited by the German philosopher Karl Jaspers. Starting from a critique of philosophy as a science, Jaspers proposes recovering the astonishment, the contemplation, and the reflection, which are proper to philosophizing as the essence of philosophy. Without this philosophizing, it would be impossible for the human being to  approach to himself and to the other through an existential communication. This last one it is not a simple act of transmitting ideas or information, but rather a communication from the inner self to an inner self, where the other is revealed, open towards my existence; and at the same time, my existence is given, is delivered to the other fully and authentically. As a result, for Jaspers communication is the only way to make philosophy and the only criteria of the truth for the human person.
