Abstract

In this article I want to point out the context of the spells of Hernando Ruiz de Alarcón, placing emphasis on the way in which they are They compiled the spells, that is, making palpable the inquisitorial method that Ruiz de Alarcón had prepared when gathering information on the “superstitions” of the natives. The spell ritual underwent a transformation when it moved to theoretical and conceptual determinisms and a graphic text, which, once the rite was isolated, modified the meaning of the cults and adorations of the indigenous people. Secondly, I am going to put the metaphorical expression in the spells in its context of enunciation, considering the nature of Nahua metaphors, that is, explaining how the Nahuas conceived the notion of metaphor from their own terms.
