Diagnosis of sustainability practices in MSMEs in Nuevo León
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this article is to analyze the sustainability practices of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Mexican State of Nuevo León, using the methodology of the pentadimensional sustainability model. This model, that includes the context surrounding MSMEs in Mexico, is composed by five dimensions: global management, competitiveness, relationships, impacts, and transparency and communication. The results, derived from a questionnaire applied to 221 companies, indicate that some companies already have clear actions to include sustainability strategies in most areas of the business, but without reaching a global integration of those strategies. Similarly, the sample contains companies that claim to have incipient actions and positive attitudes towards sustainability, but they lack sufficient knowledge and interest to concretise a sustainable management model in the long term.
