The Anáhuac Journal acknowledges receipt of submissions by email and through the relevant online platform, informing authors of the editorial process status: initial estimate or rejection, acceptance or rejection, and, in case of acceptance, the editing process. The full editorial guidelines, pre-submission checklist, and scientific review protocol used by external reviewers are available on the official website under “Instructions for Authors.”

Within 30 days of manuscript submission, authors will receive a formal notification indicating whether the work has been rejected or preliminarily accepted for review by scientific referees.

If the manuscript contains substantial formal deficiencies or does not fit the journal’s thematic scope, it will be rejected without the possibility of resubmission. In such cases, no further correspondence will be maintained with the authors. If minor formal deficiencies are detected, the work will be returned for correction before the review process begins. The official submission date will be considered from the delivery of the corrected document. Authors are strongly encouraged to conduct a thorough review using the checklist before submission.

Manuscripts will undergo anonymous peer review by at least two subject experts. Based on the reviewers’ reports (see the corresponding review protocol annex), the decision will be made to accept or reject the article, as well as any necessary modifications regarding length, structure, or style, while respecting the substantive content of the original text. The journal uses a multi-reviewer system to resolve discrepancies between reviewers. The maximum time to complete the scientific review, after passing the initial editorial filter, is 90 days, with an average response time of 60 days for scientific evaluation and an additional 60 days for final acceptance.

In cases requiring major or minor modifications, authors will have a maximum of 15 days to make the requested adjustments. All authors will receive the peer review reports anonymously so they can implement the corresponding improvements or, if deemed appropriate, submit well-founded responses.

Once the manuscript is accepted, and prior to final editing, authors will receive the galley proofs in PDF format via email, which must be reviewed and corrected only for typographical aspects within a maximum period of two weeks. Substantive changes to the already-reviewed content will not be accepted. Authors must provide the final version in the original language of the article (Spanish or English) along with a professional translation into the other language to ensure bilingual publication and international dissemination. Approved articles will be made available in advance in the “Online First” section of the journal’s website, along with their DOI, prior to the official issue publication.

The key criteria guiding the editorial decision on acceptance or rejection, once the scientific evaluations have been received, are as follows:

  • a) Timeliness and relevance of the topic.
  • b) Significance and contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
  • c) Originality.
  • d) Methodological rigor and scientific validity.
  • e) Logical organization and formal presentation.
  • f) Institutional support and funding (public or private).
  • g) Co-authorship and internationalization of the research team.
  • h) Clarity, coherence, and quality of writing.

Authors will be able to access their article both in the Online First version and in the final published version. They also agree to serve on the The Anáhuac Journal International Scientific Review Board for a period of three years following the publication of their article.
