Current Issue
In this second issue of the year, the journal presents a selection of works that address both classical problems and emerging questions in the field of bioethics, offering an in-depth analysis from a perspective centered on human dignity. Throughout the issue, relevant dilemmas are examined, such as the disposition of cryopreserved embryos derived from assisted reproductive technologies; the complex decision-making processes in cases of extreme prematurity, through proposals for advance care planning; and the phenomenon of medical gaslighting as a form of violence that undermines the clinician–patient relationship.
Likewise, the enduring relevance of Gregorio Marañón’s thought is revisited, particularly regarding vocation, duty, and the ethical formation of physicians. The issue also proposes a reconceptualization of chronic hunger as a non-communicable pandemic with implications for global justice, and develops a critique of transhumanism and the growing medicalization of moral evil. Finally, it offers an analysis of ADHD that problematizes overdiagnosis, medicalization, and the influence of the pharmaceutical industry.
Taken together, this issue provides a rigorous and timely reflection on contemporary practices in healthcare, reaffirming respect for human dignity as the cornerstone of bioethical thought.
